Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for all the blessings God has given me and my family. I have a husband who loves me, and takes care of me, loving children who love and respect me and make me proud, and precious grandchildren who are my pride and joy.

I am thankful for health, stability, peace of mind and harmony in our homes.

I’m thankful for good and caring friends; a comfortable house, enough wealth to keep us out of debt and to meet our needs.

I wish for good blessing to all, as well!

On This Veterans’ Day

The military family is a close-knit family. Although we are no longer on active duty (Ely retired in 1981), we are still active at the Quantico Marine Base Parish. We touch base with other retirees and active duty personnel. We have friends who are veterans of World War II, the Vietnam and Korean Wars (Ely did a tour on both), the Persian Gulf, Iraq and the Afghanistan Conflict.

I have an affinity and respect; and am in awe of the military men and women who have served twice, even three times in the most recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is like a family reunion when a husband or wife comes home; I consider them heroes. And yet, they’re always ready for the next tour of duty, knowing they are in harms way.

On this Veterans’ Day, I offer love and prayers for those who have served our Country unselfishly. May God bless you all!
