On this, my sixty-fifth year,

I would like to think that the person I am today is a result of some lessons I’ve learned along the way.
On Patience: I soon realize that any frustrations over things that I have no control over would only be a waste of time.
On Favors: I’m wary of anyone overeager to do me any favors; there’s usually a payback time.
Relaxation: I have stopped imposing deadlines on myself.
Boredom: a form of laziness.
Standards: Everyone has his own standards. Don’t force yours on me, and in deference, I will not argue.
Forgetfulness: I totally lose my train of thought whenever someone finishes my sentences!
My Priorities: Always my family.
Change of Plans: I always try to have a contingency plan, but making sure never to sacrifice my priorities.
“What’s in it for me?” As long as you’re in that mind-set, you’ll never reach satisfaction in your lifetime.
Peace of Mind: the greatest luxury I would like to have.
I used to think that because I am short, unattractive and Asian, I may never attain the lifestyle of, say, the movie stars, the entrepreneurs, the jet setters, and the like…then I ask myself: are they really happy? Boredom? Could they think on their toes? With so much they take for granted, do they even know how to share their wealth and blessings?
I have great respect for Artists, Writers, Archaeologists, Scientists and Philanthropists—they contribute more for my soul than any other discipline I know, to further my knowledge of people and the arts. Everything or everyone else is just, ultimately, about making the big bucks.
This is me.

HB to me!

I am 65 today. Another year had passed and I can still honestly say that my life, with its occasional ups and downs, is truly blessed. My husband still loves me, and takes good care of me, my loving children who love and respect me do make me proud, and I have precious grandchildren (soon to be six) who are my pride and joy. I do love them.

I was going to write something deep and pensive, seeing that I’m getting on with age, but it will have to be some other time,  some other day. Today, I am celebrating.
